Illinois Arts & Culture Sector Data – A Museums Report

The Prairie State Museums Project began in April 2020 as an application to the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting’s Coronavirus News Collaboration Challenge. Working with Art Alliance Illinois, Resilient Heritage worked to produce this project as a collaboration to promote timely information for the projects 16 journalists about the state of the arts and culture sector, and in particular, museums within the sector. Arts Alliance Illinois produced the results of its COVID-19 Cultural Sector Impact Statement in early June, and as a partner on this project, generated a separate impact statement for museum institutions displayed below. A complete list of survey results may be viewed here. The 26 museums remain anonymous. If you know of or represent an arts and culture institution in Illinois, Arts Alliance Illinois is still collecting responses to its survey on a rolling basis. As the results of this survey are not scientific, they are displayed here for information purposes only as a reflection of self-reported effects of COVID-19 on Illinois museums.
